The development and refinement of bonsai involves the application of art, philosophy, and horticultural skills.  All of these elements must come together to create, maintain and develop good bonsai over time.

After almost 5 decades developing bonsai I realise, now, that I am only at the beginning of a long process of continuous improvement of my trees.  Observations in Japan have made me realise that the additional elements of time and dedication are  not only essential but go far beyond a single lifetime of achievement.

After viewing the bonsai in my collection, look carefully at the bonsai masterpieces in the Bonsai Tour Gallery and you will see the time and dedication of generations of artists.
