Akadama for Root Ramification

I am amazed at the numbers of people still not using Akadama in their bonsai mixes.

Decades ago Akadama coming into Australia was of very low quality.  It failed a simple "Dispersion Test" on every occasion. 

We were fortunate enough to live in an area of volcanic Kraznosem soils ( re-classified as Ferrosols) and could produce an Akadama "look-a-like" that performed well, particularly in deciduous bonsai.

Within the last decade we have seen some very high quality Akadama come into Australia that performs very well in deciduous as well as conifer bonsai.

Our older bonsai grow slowly and much more evenly largely due to the fine root ramification produced through the use of significantly high amounts of Akadama in our mixes.
